Outer Banks and Beyond
In early October we set out for a 1340 miles trip to the outer banks of North Carolina, an area neither Jerri or I had ever visited. We took scenic roads through Va, but in Culpeper a guy at a gas station suggested we get to the interstate and "Haul ***" or we would never get there. We stopped in Waverly, VA the next day and bought peanuts at Adams Country Store (Jerri got her ham picture). The owner also gave us good directions for the outer bands. We made it to all 3 islands and the 4 lighthouses, found out where not to place our tent, and visited the Wright Brothers Memorial. We stopped by Appomattox Courthouse as we headed north. The leaves were turning fall colors as we rode the Blue Ridge Parkway and headed over the mountains to West Virginia.
