Sand Dunes and Roping

We took a motorcycle trip from 10/14 through 10/15. Our first stop was at the Permian Basin museum in Midland and a nice visit and lunch with Barbara and Ron on Friday. On our way up we experienced a west Texas dust storm. Going into Midland I think visibility was down to less than a mile. After lunch we headed to Commemorative Air Force museum and on to Monahans for the night. On Saturday morning we headed to the Monahans Sand Dunes State Park. What a nice park! We rented saucers to ride the dunes on snow white sand and very fine quartz sand. The drive through New Mexico to Hobbs was very pleasant. We went to the cowboy museum and the national steer roping event and had a great time. Sunday morning we headed to Snyder Texas and saw the famous White Buffalo Statue and a herd of antelope. We rode 550 miles and enjoyed our meals at local restaurants along the way.

Motorcycle Ride to San Antonio 10/31/08 - 11/2/08

We had a nice ride to San Antonio this past weekend. We left San Angelo on Friday after Jerri got off work and rode 1 1/2 hours to Junction, TX. Saturday was very cool when we left at sunrise. We stopped in Kerrville for a coffee stop and to warm up. San Antonio greeted us with nice warm weather as we arrived at around 11:00. We stayed at the Drury Plaza, a very nice and reasonable Hotel which was originally the Alamo Bank building. It was right on the riverwalk so it was a great place to stay. We spent Saturday visiting the Alamo and other riverwalk area sights. Sunday we visited the 4 other Spanish Missions on the south side of San Antonio before heading home and a nice ride through the hill country.
