Bowling Green Christmas Parade
Our HOG Chapter rode in the Bowling Green Christmas Parade on Saturday December 5th. The weather sunny and cold (20's), but we had a great turnout and a great time. We were an early unit so we got rolling without delay. Jerri and I went for a 60 mile ride after the parade and were ready for a nice hot cup of tea when we got home. We probably won't get much more riding in as the year draws to a close. We ended the year with over 15,000 miles and total miles on the bike nearing 66,000. If all goes as planned we're heading to Texas in early January 2010.
Cyclemo's
On November 21st we had a nice sunny Saturday in Bowling Green so we headed down to Cyclemo's motorcycle museum in Red Boiling Springs, TN. We had a nice ride through the countryside and stopped for lunch (burgers and chips) at a fund raiser sponsored by the Macon County TN Charity Riders. Cyclemo's in a nice small scale museum that is worth a stop. They also have a shop where they restore motorcycles.

2006 Oregon and Sturgis Trip - Part 5
2006 Oregon and Sturgis Trip - Part 4
We arrived in the Sturgis area on 8/4 with a stop at Devils Tower. The riding through 8/7 was great with stops in Sturgis, the small towns in the area, the Crazy Horse Monument, Mt. Rushmore, and all the roads through the Black Hills. We ate Bison Burgers several time in Custer State Park and saw 2 bikes charged by Bison. Custer State Park is a great place to camp and we enjoyed our stay. There were so many bikes that cars look very much out of place.

2006 Oregon and Sturgis Trip - Part 3
We rode through Mt. Rainier Natl. Park and headed east through nice farmland and the orchard county of WA and on to a stop in Coer d' Alene ID on 7/28. The ride through Montana was stunning with a stop in Helena. Our 4 days in Yellowstone was beyond words and it took us the full 4 days to see everything. We left on 8/3 and traveled by Bear Tooth Pass and Granite Pass to Sheridan WY.
2006 Oregon and Sturgis Trip - Part 2
We left on 7/25 for Arches Natl. Park and a nice and warm (100 degrees +) through the Utah and north to Salt Lake City. On our way to the coast we stopped to see the Oregon Trail ruts and had a wonderful ride along the Columbia River. We made it to the Oregon coast on 7/27 and headed east the next day. The sky was clear as we rode past Mt. St. Helen's.
2006 Oregon and Sturgis Trip - Part 1
We left on 7/18 and arrived 7/19 in Rolla MO to visit our Deb and Eric McGrath. On 7/21 we stopped at the Eisenhower Museum in Abileen KS on our way toward the Denver area. We toured the foothills of the Rocky Mtns. and headed across the Loveland Pass through Glennwood Springs and arrived at the vineyards and orchards of Grand Junction CO on 7/23. The ride across the plains and mountains was disverse and stunning.
Eureka Springs Arkansas
We left BG on 9/17/09 and headed for Eureka Springs to meet up with other members of our Cave Country HOG Chapter. The trip down was nice, but we headed into light rain as we approached Eureka Springs. We rode across the border so Kirby could set foot in Oklahoma and headed back to meet up with our group for our evening meal. We had a nice ride on Friday through the Ozarks stopping at the Thorngrown Chapel and lunch at the Cliff House Inn and Restaurant. On Saturday Jerri and I headed out alone to visit the War Eagle Grist Mill (a working water powered mill) and a stop at the Susie Q Malt Shop. The weather wasn't the best, but we enjoyed the trip. We headed home on Sunday with a stop overnight in Sikeston MO and lunch at Lambert's. Our mileage for the trip was 1442.
2009 Sturgis Trip - Part 2
We stopped at the Mammoth site in Hot Springs and headed for our stay in Custer State Part. The riding through the Black Hills was excellent and we enjoyed seeing the bison and wild burros again. We rode to Mt. Rushmore for the lighting ceremony at night and had a wild ride on the winding rode back to the campsite. We left the Monday the rally began and headed to ND (a state Jerri and I had not visited). The badlands of ND were nice, but not as impressive as the badlands of SD. We rode to Bismarck ND and headed to Pierre SD (a 90 mile stretch on which we saw 2 other vehicles). From Pierre SD we followed the Native American Biway as saw Sitting Bull's grave and Sakakawea monument. We headed east through SD and a rolling hills section of western IA and home to BG on 8/7/09. We traveled sections of the Pony Express, Oregon, Mormon, and Lewis and Clark trails. Our trip was 14 days and 4423 miles and we stayed off interstate most of the trip west of MO.
2009 Sturgis Trip - Part 1
We left BG on 7/25/09 at 6:00 and traveled west through IL and MO with a nice visit to the Pony Express Museum in St. Joe and 2 Pony Express stations in KS. A tire issue caused us to stop at the H-D in Lincoln NE for a tire change. The ride through NE was beautiful (not all of NE is flat) with stops to see Oregon Trail ruts, Chimney Rock, and Scott's Bluff (don't miss the ride to the top). We headed to Cheyenne and Laramie WY and over the Snowy Range where Jerri and I saw our first moose in the wild. We stopped at Ft. Laramie (only original western fort) and on to the Fur Trader Museum in NE. On our way to Sturgis we stopped at the SD Wild Horse Sanctuary which was worth the stop.

Kentucky State HOG Rally - Paducah
We had a nice time at the Kentucky State HOG Rally in Paducah 6/11/09 - 6/14/09. We managed to avoid getting wet during the rally and enjoyed our stay and the riding in the Paducah area. We had a nice ride on Friday to the Garden of the Gods (similar to Coopers Rock State Park in WV) in IL. Jerri and I did ok in the field events on Friday making it to the 3rd round in one event. Jerri had the real adventure riding as a passenger with another member as she nearly rolled off the back of the bike after a successful run through the ball drop. We also figured out how to travel with our dogs. On Saturday we visited old town Paducah and rode to Lambert's (home of the Throwed Rolls) in MO. Saturday we rode to the Casino in Metropolis IL of Superman fame. We had a nice relaxing ride home on Sunday.
