Texas Here We Come
We made it to Texas even with the challenges of traveling with Redz and Buster. We had a nice and relaxing visit with Austin in Nashville. We made arrangements this morning to have the motorcycle shipped to Big Spring so we should be back riding in a few weeks. We've posted a few pictures from our trip and from aroung San Angelo.

HOG Mileage Contest
In January our HOG Chapter announced that we won the mileage contest that ran from May 2007 through October 2007. Our total mileage was 15,487 and we won 4 of the 5 individual monthly awards. Our total mileage for the bike over the past 2 years is over 40,000 miles and we managed to ride every month since we bought the bike.

Outer Banks and Beyond
In early October we set out for a 1340 miles trip to the outer banks of North Carolina, an area neither Jerri or I had ever visited. We took scenic roads through Va, but in Culpeper a guy at a gas station suggested we get to the interstate and "Haul ***" or we would never get there. We stopped in Waverly, VA the next day and bought peanuts at Adams Country Store (Jerri got her ham picture). The owner also gave us good directions for the outer bands. We made it to all 3 islands and the 4 lighthouses, found out where not to place our tent, and visited the Wright Brothers Memorial. We stopped by Appomattox Courthouse as we headed north. The leaves were turning fall colors as we rode the Blue Ridge Parkway and headed over the mountains to West Virginia.

New York Trip
In September we took a 6 day 1300 mile trip through New York. Our first night was spent camping in Bald Eagle State Park in Pa (there are nesting eagles, but we did not see them). We continued through PA into New York and Watkins Glen (we drove by the race track) and camped at Sampson State Park along Seneca Lake. We visited 3 wineries and saw a herd of albino deer. Our trip continued along Lake Ontario and we saw salmon fisherman on the lake and along the Salmon River. We made it to the Adirondacks and stayed at a small motel in Lake Pleasant. We left in the morning and drove throught the Catskills to Waymart PA and visited Jerri's cousins. We camped at Shawnee State Park the last night. We woke up to a foggy 38 degree morning so packing our camp up was a lot of fun.

Music, Bar-B-Que, and Elvis
This summer we took a 1200 mile trip to visit our son, Austin, in Nashville; and our daughter, Kelly, and her husband, Nathan, in Memphis. Our kids were great tour hosts in both cities. We had great bar-b-que in Memphis, visited Graceland, and Tupelo. We stopped by the Jack Daniels Distillery in Lynchburg. The following week Jimmy Bedford, Master Distiller, authgraphed our tour tickets at the Mountainfest motorcycle rally in Morgantown
