Texas Hill Country Trip
Jerri and I left San Angelo on Saturday the 13th for a trip to the Texas Hill Country. It was a 30 degree morning so we welcomed the coffee stop in Junction. We rode route 377 along the Llano River to route 335 (a road known as one of the 3 twisted sisters) to route 55 and a stop in Uvalde. Our lunch stop was at Live Oak which was featured on Andrew Zimmer's show on the travel channel. We headed north on route 83 and across route 470 to Bandara, the Cowboy Capital of Texas, and finally north on route 16 for our overnight stay in Kerrville. The roads in the Texas Hill Country are great for riding and we're looking forward to riding there again. We left on Sunday morning and within a few miles of Kerrville the sun was shining. Our lunch stop was in Mason where a local restaurant had a nice Valentine's special. As we approached Mason we saw clouds ahead and road the final hour in a 20-25 m.p.h. sidewind and 40 degree temperatures. We covered 550 miles on the trip.
